  2. This is a great initiative to teach kids the value of recycling and the benefits to our environment. We recycle paper, cardboard, plastic and glass and have always taught our kids to recycle. In fact, we typically have more materials we recycle every week than we throw away. We designate three different containers in our house for recycling paper and plastic. My 3rd grade son also has a recycle bin in his own room that he created.

  6. I would like to see Reid Temple Christian Academy and Reid Temple AME partner to do a much better job at recycling. This is an effort that we all should get behind. We should have receptacles that visibly display our efforts at sorting recyclable materials. There is much that we can do. I have seen the efforts around the building at saving energy and reducing waste. With more information and education our students can begin to champion this effort. I would like to see more Middle School students getting involved with this effort. Through our discussions in Science, many of them are eager to save our planet.

  9. I am so glad to hear that the third grade is spreading the word. When the sixth grade went to North Bay earlier in the school year we learned about the importance of re-cycling, including the dangers of throwing plastic bottles away. Use a thermos or water bottle! I challenge the entire Middle School to use re-usable water bottles and thermoses. Let's show that we care about our world!

  14. I totally support using reusable bags and we have been doing that for the past four years in our area.

Besides that, I am a firm believer in recycling, period! For years we have shredded our magazines and other important papers and used them in our garden. We add the shredded items with potting soil around our trees and plants. It is a great help in keeping the soil moist under the trees and flowers.

I am delighted to see that the students are being taught to be good stewards of God's planet. God bless the students and their gifted educators for training them well.

    Sincerely,

    Margaret Naylor
